I live in Murfreesboro, TN; feel free to Google-Maps that for a sec, I'll wait.

Back? Good. Now you'll notice that there's a nice big river next to my city... which means I'm on a flood plain. Add to that the fact that Tennessee has gotten between 12 and 15 inches of rain in the past day or so (and shows no sign of stopping in the near future), and you begin to see my situation.

I'm more fortunate than my neighbor - at least some of my yard is still visible through the water, while his has become an impromptu swimming pool. Even so, I'm not going anywhere; roads and even interstates have been flooded and closed, and there have even been drownings ON ROADS. I may be a warrior, but I'm smarter than that.

Time to go find my flood insurance policy, methinks.

I'm glad you're okay. I grew up in Bellevue and I've just been absolutely stunned by the amount of flooding in the very places I played and visited friends. Two of my friends have parents and grandparents living (or that lived) in River Plantation, and that entire area is just completely devastated. I also saw Sky5 HD's video of the Highway 100/Innsbrook/Harpeth River area. My bus route ran Highway 100 and most of my friends lived on or along Highway 100. :/

My brother lives in Antioch, which was also hit really hard, but he lives on a good sized hill and came through the storm okay. He's pretty well surrounded by water, though.

Wife required me to go out to shop at Wal-Mart; that was a fun trip. Saw some submerged roads, pools that are pretty close to the road level, and cars flooded out and abandoned. Luckily, my area is far enough from the river that I was able to skirt around, but still... not fun.
