WTB Gixx assistance

so you've inspired me to learn how to do cool cupcakes (though i doubt they'll be as win as yours) and i was just curious of what you use for fondant? (don't worry, i'm not gonna steal it and open up some random shop and make meelions off it, i just know how bad normal fondant tastes)

Marshmallow fondant :)
Thats awesome, Kass! I know you could make some amazing ones, you're so artistic. :)
'Hello Naomi' has some really cute cupcakes, and says she uses normal pre-made fondant. I figured if its good enough for her, I might as well use it. Well DON'T! Its nasty. I tried mixing some different flavors of extract in to improve the taste, but even that couldn't help. It tastes oily and gross... like eating Crisco...nobody will want to eat it. I tried filling the cupcakes with icing before I put the fondant 'cap' on, and that made them tolerable... but most people will still pick off the fondant.
I ended up finding a great marshmallow fondant recipe here. At first its a big sticky mess, but if you keep at it and work with it for a bit, its perfect. Its basically marshmallows and powdered sugar, so its tastes great, but it is subtle enough not to clash with whatever flavor cupcakes you make.
If you keep the cupcakes covered, the fondant will stay soft or even gooey... but if you keep them covered too long, it might get too melty. If you leave them uncovered, the fondant can get sort of hard, but should still taste fine.
If you want to tint the fondant, you can knead it in after its all mixed up... but I heard its easier to add the color to the melted marshmallow goo before you start adding the powdered sugar.
yaaay
i'm so going to play with making this tomorrow :)
thanks!
P.S.
I quickly wrote this while I'm supposed to be working, so if anything doesn't make sense... too bad :P
Cheese Cake
I have a good recipe for one laying around the house somewhere. I'll have to find it. It's yummy.
well..
this is what came out of my little experiment:
i wasn't quite sure what i was doing and it was hot as hell in my kitchen so it was a little difficult to start working with, but over all it was wicked fun to do, i definitely need more practice :P i just kinda free handed the mario stuff, and i actually found a pint glass that was the perfect size for the bottom layers, so that worked out nicely.
(and this fondant tastes SO much better than the normal stuff, thanks so much!)
HA!
Very cool!!

Look nice enough. Bit shabby on the edges of the designs but that's to be expected on the first attempt, especially if you did them by hand. I imagine some type of measurement tool would be useful to get them set perfectly, or perhaps one of those fancy gun type things that dispenses exact portions in a die-cast shape.
I'll be honest, too. When I saw the thread of Kass asking Gixx of all people for "help", I didn't think it was about cupcakes. Does that make me a bad person?
Well really, this is all code
Well really, this is all code for leather bondage. We're just sly like that. :P
Oh Come On
Are you seriously hinting at Gixx/Kassia leather bondage? Are you trying to hurt Tranquil? That might actually give him a heart attack from lack of blood flow....to his heart...
*nabs a star one, scarfs it down*
*becomes invulnerable, goes on rampage*
Nice job!
These are a really great first try, Kass! Love all the color :)
A couple of things I forgot to mention; I use a round cookie cutter (that is basically cupcake-sized) to make the base circle shape. Also, an ice-cream scoop is really helpful for plopping batter into the tray/liners. You can get a pretty uniform amount that way, and a slightly-less-than-full scoop will make a pretty good looking cupcake.
Now, to be fair, here was my first attempt at crocheting something cute:
nosferatu?
that looks like a nosferatu from this crazy book i found :)

nice job for a first attempt, the stitches look pretty consistant and it's pretty cute :D
Yes!
Thats the one, haha. At least you could tell what it was supposed to be. I love that book so much, just need to find time to practice more and make better things :)
have you seen her blog?
http://needlenoodles.com/home/
she has other cute things on there to make too :) i made the valkyrie and it's the best ever!
Waterproof?
Did you just plop that down in a stream?
Lol, waterproof
Now that I look at that pic it does look like a stream.
At first I just thought it was a pretty granite countertop.
Ahhh
I could also see those 3d image posters pretty easily too. >.>
