Why does Emberstorm suck at PVP?

Seriously. I mean. I'm not the best geared PVP'er, and i'm certainly don't consider myself the best player at PVP.... Yet consistently I play random BG's and I top the healing charts, and my side loses. Often I'm outhealing other people by 2 to 1.
I try and stick with groups of people and heal them (i'm kind of useless on my own) and more often than not it's just chaos, and we lose. Quickly. I don't think I've won Warsong Gulch since Cataclysm hit. Seriously. I mean I try and avoid it, but still. I've played it.
I dunno. I mean i was just in an Isle of Conquest and we had most of the map the whole fight, and the alliance still won in 5 minutes. I don't know how. they just rushed in and we had no defense maybe? Who knows.
It's kind of frustrating.
Why does our battlegroup suck so hard?

3 RP servers.
'Nuff said.
^ That
3 RP servers, and before WotLK hit, we had half as many servers as the other battlegroups. That earned us the reputation as the worst battlegroup which has stuck into this expansion.
After that most of the serious PvPers transferred off, leaving us with a pool of retards. Most of them seem to have some kind of serious adversion to any type of organized defense. They'd rather lose quickly than win slowly. Jurchen and I still get yelled at for capping Snowfall in AV, even though if you take it with enough people on D it's like auto-win for Horde.
We can still do well in AB and EOTS sometimes, but anything else is a crap shoot.
Curious...
So who's to blame for our horrid battlegroup make up? Blizzard? Is it a random thing...population...'skill' if such a thing exsists in Emberstorm?
Do they hate us so or do they just clump all crappy RP servers into one clusterfuck?
Our BG was introduced in TBC.
I don't think they had RP servers when the original BGs were created.
It's the combination of low population and high dumb-fuckery that makes servers like Farstriders and Moon Guard. Getting an arena team rating of 2k here is the equivalent of 1500 on the other BGs. The people who take that sort of thing seriously left a long time ago.
Tis sad...
I've heard about some more 'advanced' PvP tactics that people most likely don't know of here or just can't make use of them here, which is sad. I think it would make for much more interesting aka frustrating BGs.
They had BGs since launch though...no? I started on Earthen Ring (RP server) shortly after launch and I'm pretty sure we had BGs back then, I remember seeing all the PvP titles. I moved onto Farstriders around BC once I heard they were giving free transfers off ER, my comp couldn't handle the high/full pop of ER back then.
Not quite at launch
BG's came out a little after launch. Originally it was all world pvp with the greatest fights being in the southshore/tarren mill area. The titles did exist but it was impossible to get to the top ranks unless you played 24/7 on a populated server. Blizzard made the BG's in response to the lack of organized pvp. It was loudly decried as the "doom of pvp in this game" by hardcore pvpers.
Hehe
which is how my priest Xujin got his Stone Guard title, he is a Tarren Mill vet.
It was probably the best pvp I played; mass chaos, infernals running around, building to building fighting (in some cases). Ugh, now I'm missing it again.
Reminds me of my Nelf Warrior, Akede
He's a Blood Guard or is it Stone Guard on Ally side? Stormreaver server. The Northshore/TM battleflow was ever a see-saw back n forth. Was a ton of fun at max level, but hard to quest during busy times. Ah the good ole days.
Seriously Right
Don't these same people get tired of loosing all the time?
They pretty much use the same usless tactics (not sure if tactics could be even applied here) and nothing ever changes for the most part.
One of the reasons I rarely pvp (except with the guild of course), it gets too depressing.
God-Complex...
I haven't been pvping as much as I'd like to on my lock, but I notice the same thing even at lower lvl BGs, people who try certain 'tactics' are ALWAYS right. What they said or did wasn't wrong...it's YOU! YOU SUCK! Your the one fighting at flags and playing D, while 'that guy' fights on the road...but YOUR WRONG!
Never forget that, because knowing if half the battle...
It just amazes me that to this day we still struggle with WG and BGs in general. Especially for the people you see in BGs day in and day out, you think they'd just learn from their mistakes...oh wait...they don't make mistakes, stupid me.
The reason I act the way I do in BGs
Seriously you ever wonder why I don't bother to call things out in bgchat, just content to make fun of the other people in the battleground. To me they are all stupid and activly ploting against me winning that BG. Hence why I usually say fuck it and just go get a bunch of HKs.
It's not the RP servers' fault...
... because on Moon Guard, Wintergrasp is a wholly-owned property of Horde International, LLC.
Instead, I would believe that our battlegroup attracts more of the KMFD/Cuddlingwolf/etc. type of people, the type who make HURR DERP DERP DERP a lifestyle and inflict themselves on the rest of us.
That's because...
on Moon Guard the Alliance is preoccupied doing something else that shall remain unmentioned.
Seriously...
Given the number of mouthbreathers I regulary see in randoms, and not nearly all of them from the RP servers, there's just something wrong with a large cross-section of the people who decided to play Horde on this battlegroup.
i know for my part
I haven't the slightest idea what to do when I go in a BG.
I don't even know the strategy to win, let alone how to communicate it to the other people.
If there is interest in organized PvP, maybe some strat guides would be a good place to start.
(I don't want to be a pvp-regular, but it would be nice to be able to go into one and know, roughly, what I should be doing moment to moment)

FWIW
I got the 100 WSG Win achievement last night. Took a long time but still doable in our BG.
what is a bg?
Is it like Warsong Gultch? and that one with the mine, mill and stables?
My paladin 80, has 5 HKs. Which is amazing considering It was my main from Launch until I moved to here 7 months ago....

[E] Sorry, I have 363 HKs. The Wintergrasp victory was back in 2009 on a taxi to Nexus..... who knew you could get the achievement for flying over as your faction won....
Yeah. There are several
Yeah. There are several battlegrounds in WoW, each is organized PvP combat around certain goals. They range in size from 10-to-a-side (warsong gulch) to 40 (isle of conquest and alterac valley). They also have a variety of goals- WSG is classic capture the flag, arathi basin requires you to capture and hold territories, alterac valley is more or less a speed-raid against PvE-style NPC bosses with the other side running interference.
I used to hate PvP, but then I got a rogue. It's fun sneaking around and stabbing people. And when all else is lost, I go super-stealthy and just play sap-tag with the other side.
I've transferred a lot
I've been in three different battlegroups and on both sides of the ally-horde divide.
There is a definite time-dependence on suck-level. At certain times of the day, everything pretty much sucks no matter where you are. But emberstorm-horde definitely has a LOT of frustration. One of the fun things about swapping horde-side was winning in PvP a lot more. It's fun when you're in Arathi Basin and people are actually capturing and defending flags, communicating and responding to the other side. Nowadays, half of my AB runs involve me standing near a flag, grinding my teeth, while most of my team goes and fights on the hill leading up to LM.
Of course, on the other hand, I've solo-capped flags quite a few times where I just stealthed past that big fight on the hill and hit the unguarded flag because the allies were just as dumb.
Don't even get me started on Strand of the Ancients. That could easily be my most favorite BG- in Stormstrike I could regularly rally a win because all it takes is 4 total players (including myself) to know the strategy for winning on defense, and 6 to play the appropriate offense strategy. Out of 15, that's a good bet on other battlegroups. Here on emberstorm, it's usually just "rush the beach and hope we kill the tanks there", which works just often enough to make people get all cocky and snooty when I suggest (gasp) that we actually man the turrets properly.
This is the only server I've been on (others were: ghostlands, steamwheedle, wyrmrest) where the alliance regularly wins at wintergrasp. On wyrmrest it was actually somewhat balanced at times, but went to the horde about 70% of the time. Ghostlands and SwC were pretty much horde-only on WG, except for the one time a raiding guild decided to push WG and get VoA up (or the occasional times where allies get a siege train running after 60 seconds). Getting dominated in WG as the horde here is really depressing. We're supposed to be the ones who are good at PvP. Yet I still see people running around in cats halfway through the fight. Or siege engines down south. Or people not defending things, or sieges running one at a time into the teeth of the enemy. Sure, we are outnumbered usually, so it's depressing anyway. But dangit, a loss is bad enough; a loss while your teammates are being dumb is depressing.
Ventspleen completed.
So, yeah, I don't know WHY emberstorm-horde is dumb. I don't blame the RP server thing- I've met a number of very good PvPers from RP servers. It's probably the whole thing where all the good PvP players gravitated to other battlegroups back in the day, and it's a self-fulfilling prophecy.
I think WG is a different problem for us.
Granted, Horde here are pretty retarded on average. But it's also a numbers problem. We're routinely outnumbered 3 to 1 or more in WG. The few times we have equal numbers we can actually do pretty well.
It's been like this on a lot of servers since they made the southern workshops capturable. It basically means the attacking side has to split into attackers and defenders, and there just aren't enough of us to do that properly.
I agree- in WG numbers are a
I agree- in WG numbers are a big problem. We're unlikely to win in any case with the imbalance, but that doesn't excuse stuff like the horde having siege engines down south and all the other idiocy I see in WG when I go. Nowadays, though, I just go for the weekly quests anyway, since I don't really need the wg token gear.
W O W
So on our 24 hour maintence I picked up an old rogue (started at lvl 34, ended at 38) I have back on Tanaris. I mostly just ran BGs and a few random instances with him. But I love that battlegroup ZOMG...I can't remember the name of it...Nightshade or something like that.
The horde communicates and actually listens! I was astounded! I think in the many BGs I ran we only lost 2 and it was a pure wipe in AB, one of which we started down...6v14 lol. Now back to Emberstorm /cry
