I know a few of the guild are currently having some issues with the fickle thing called love. I posted this on the old site a while ago, but hopefully this can solve some of the problems people have been having and asking themselves "What is love?"

The answer is a man in a chicken suit playing Pianica.

Man in a Chicken suit plays "What is Love" on Pianica from Ring Mod on Vimeo.

And here I was gonna say

Baby don't hurt me, don't hurt me anymore.

Wow

Suddenly I don't feel so bad about being dumped after a year and a half. Thanks Tal - it's all so clear to me now!

:P

The question you have to ask yourself Ikuri...

Talarashne's picture

Who do you want to be?

A woman in a chicken suit playing pianica?

A woman watching someone in a chicken suit play pianica?

A Pianica being played by someone in a chicken suit?

...

Which are you? Which do you want to be?

My choice

I'd like to be dating the guy in the chicken suit, playing the pianica. Anyone with balls enough to do that is definitely deserving of my affections.

He can play me like a pianica later.

Pianica!

I have NEVER Seen one of those. Now I want one. And maybe the sequencer or whatever he has in that little cart on wheels.

Not sure...

I still have no idea how these things work...you have to suck or blow into the tube? Hahaha, I'm not sure what he's using, but I've seen these things in the past, it records something and then loops it...I think. Very one man bandish

Oh yeah.

And the looping is done via a foot pedal.  Stuart Wyatt used to do the same think busking in Paris with an electric violin, he would just build these amazingly complex pieces live by loop accompaniment.  Not sure if any of his stuff is still around on the net, but google "Solostring" and you might find some.

Oh that's nothing.

I present to you, the Eigenharp.

Omg

These intruments blow my mind, I must look up how they work, cause I'm clueless.

Basically.

Flynn's picture

It's a multi-voice synthesizer with about a billion ways to alter each individual sound.  The buttons are all touch-sensitive, the breath pipe can be used to alter pitch and provide effects (basically think Peter Frampton's talk box), and there's a bunch of other shit it can do.  It's the ultimate geek musical instrument.  It's also expensive as all hell, but what price a musical instrument that looks like it's from Star Trek and can literally turn you into a one-man fucking band?

Neat

Nice. 4000 british pounds. They are using a drum synth somewhere in there though. The buttons are like 4 way joysticks and allow pitch bending and such.

Wow

Xyro's picture

With all those variations I would think these aren't the easiest thing to learn how to play.

Drums.

Flynn's picture

They're part of the built in sample set.  Fully sampled cello, clarinet, several different pianos plus the synth engine, plus a ridiculous number of moddable drum loops.  Plus I'm sure you can install damn near any instrument you can get a sample set for.  The possibilities with one of these things are just mind-boggling.
