This Week in Warcraft...

If you guys aren't as big of a WoW nerd as me, then you may not know two people from Tankspot.com (Lore and Aliena) put out weekly WoW blogs. Right now, obviously their main focous is Cata. This is one of the more informative ones, just figured I'd share it with everyone.
Mentioned this week - New Cata patch, new zones, new glyph system functional, lvl cap to 85, new instances, slight Boomkin coverage among other things. Enjoy.
FYI, the last two minuets are bloopers, apparently being bi-lingual has it's draw backs XD

New zones.
You should take any opinions about the new zones/dungeons/experience past level 83 with a huge grain of salt, because things are barely finished at all past Deepholm. You're going to hear lots of bitching that Uldum, Twilight Highlands and the dungeons are brutal, but that's because these geniuses are going after them with level 83 gear - the last two zones have absolutely zero quest rewards in them at the moment. (And gear inflation is freaking huge in Cata, imagine trying to do Icecrown with your level 70 TBC clownsuit on.)
It's pretty crazy gear inflation
Looks to be evenmoreso than in the Vanilla to BC change, and every level the gear ramps up pretty insanely it seems. So that if you have level 82 quest reward gear, you really need to grap level 83 quest reward gear before you get to level 84 quests or you'll be in trouble..
also just an insane ramp over LK gear..

Expansion 1: Overkill. Everything is an upgrade. People whine about their epics sucking.
Expansion 2: Underwhelming. Nothing is really an upgrade. People whine about their new gear sucking.
Expansion 3: See Expansion 1.
Expansion 4: See Expansion 2.
Pretty Much
I don't have a problem with either. If I had to pick one, I'd pick where the quest rewards in the new starter area are upgrades over my raiding gear. It was kind of meh playing through LK and just vendoring most of the blue quest gear I was getting until more than halfway through the expansion. I guess it made sense, because it was a straight line of gear upgrades so if you were in quest gear from BC then the level 71 stuff would be upgrades from your level 70 stuff. And T4 gear was like....level 72, and T5 gear was like level 74 and T6 gear was like...level 76....Which is nice and all but if you're going to get rid of everything in a week anyway, why not just lose it the instant the expansion hits and you get new gear right out of the box.
The first expansion whining was i think different from now. That was the first time and people had spent a long time and a serious effort on some of those pieces of gear. I mean massive quest chains, and upgradeing, and getting a drop here, and then a drop there, and then a long quest chain to X. They weren't just "oh hey look, I won Gunship and got a new pair of pants.". So I think that was more you had these die hard raiders who had worked long and hard hours only to have their epics go POOF the instant they hit Hellfire...And on top of that their new gear looked like shit compared to their epics. It was a double bitch slap.
Meh. I look forward to my new blues. For me though it's not so much about the gear but the content.
Ya
I much prefer overkill. I'd rather have all the level 80 idiots who pull 300 DPS at least get their gear upgraded so they'll do better. If what Dich says is true, hell, they may even have to lrn2play to actually survive the new Cataclysm zones, in addition to needing the gear to have any chance.
From what I've seen.
When you first get into Cataclysm with WOTLK gear, shit will Kill You and Kill You Hard if you're not careful. Pull one thing at a time until you get the hang of it.
Stuff takes longer to kill, so you're not going to be spamming one ability over and over. Druids, for instance, will have to stack bleeds and use the occasional Bite finisher, otherwise the mob fight will take all day.
Once you've hit level 81 and have some starter gear, things begin to get easier. All your ratings begin to drop like a rock, too, so you won't be critting as often, but you won't be getting your ass kicked quite as hard.
You'll replace a lot of gear pretty fast, because Mastery is freaking awesome. Once a feral gets a fair amount of mastery, it's like leveling in WOTLK again - stuff dies quick, but instead of hitting Mangle a couple times, you have to stack your bleeds.
If you go through Hyjal and then Vash'jir, you will have replaced every piece of gear by the end of the second zone, and Deepholm won't be too bad. Mobs still have a shitload of health, and you'll still be using rotations on them. If you jump straight to Deepholm at 81 with Hyjal gear, you might be back in "get your ass kicked" territory.
Some of the events still need tuning badly. The zone-ending questline in Deepholm has you throw down against the Twilight cultists, and when all hell breaks loose and combat breaks out everywhere it's very, very easy to get overwhelmed.
On launch day, hanging around in the newbie zones watching people fuck up will be hilarious.
I think the difficulty of the
I think the difficulty of the dungeons will be nice. It's kind of sad just facerolling your way through instances now. BUT at the same time if you think about when LK instances came out they were a bit hard, but now that we have done them 8 billion times its a huge faceroll. It would be cool if each time you did it the mob's locations changed so it wasnt same mobs in the same spots
Something about gear though, how does it look? the thing that upset me with LK is that all of the gear is just bleh. no colors really, no cool designs, just same shit for everyone/every class.
Gear.
They do one really cool thing with gear. All the quest rewards in each zone are coordinated, so that by the time you finish the zone it's like you're wearing a set. Unfortunately, they still haven't put a lot of the gear graphics into the game, so all the pieces in the first three zones for druids look alike, just color variations. No more clownsuits, and there seems to be better overall design variety than in WOTLK.
Knowing Blizz.
the gear will be Hideous.
the LvL 78 blue bow from Grim Batol, looks like a Vanilla Green...but then again it was getting to the point mah bow was gonna shoot Lazers!
Kneel before Zod! That is
Kneel before Zod!
That is all.
how about leveling via instances, 80-85?
Are this expansion's first instances too hard to do with, say T9 and some ICC gear? Do we have to craft/quest some gear before doing the lowest dungeons? (My intent was to level via LFD for a while and let the new zones simmer down a little)
