WARNING: AFK in BG Macro

Some jackass has created a macro that inserts your name into the "reported for AFK" statement used in BGs when you report leeches and slackers. If you /AFK you get kicked out of the BG. They used in three times in a row yesterday in IoC and that's how people realized it was a macro. Several people said they screenshot the chat box and were reporting the person but that type of thing can spread. Why you would do that to people just to be an ass is beyond me.

If you see this happen in a BG, report the turd. Please.

This actually first happened to me about five years ago, and, yes, I fell for it and afked out of the bg and got the deserter buff to boot. I was so ticked off I reported the person though I have no idea if anything came of it.

This also happened very recently to me, but older and wiser, I just sent an abusive tell to the jerk who did it.

Just a random question, why are you "afk'ing" in a BG? I know I have had to make a bio or something unexpectedly came up, so I would go do what I had to and came back. If I was gone for more than like a minute I kinda expect to be booted (or at least killed). I guess I dont fully understand the macro you're talking about.

It's an emote with your name in it, to the effect that if you don't type in "/afk" you will be reported as inactive. This is done at the very beginning of a bg and if you're not paying attention you might, as I did, fall for it.

This has been around forever. And to clarify, because it took me a minute to figure out what you were talking about, its a chat macro anyone can make with in-game tools. All it does is say "Player has been reported as AFK, please type /AFK to show you are active" or something like that. If you go AFK in a BG, you get kicked from the BG with the deserter debuff and typing /AFK makes you go AFK. The idea is to trick people into typing /AFK because I guess they think its funny.

Its not an exploit even if it is a dick move. You fall for it once and then you get wise. Truth is if someone reports you AFK you don't get any message. And even if everyone in the BG reports you AFK it won't kick you if you are moving around and doing stuff.

If everyone reports you AFK it doesn't kick you even if you are doing nothing. You just get a debuff preventing honor gains until you engage in pvp combat.

What I would suggest is that instead of typing just /afk I would type: /afk off (that way it wont toggle afk on, so if you are afk its turned on and if you are not afk it stays that way regardless) Just my thought
