Warlock race traits....Goblin versus Orc

I would be interested in fellow Locks posting their opinion in the matter. As a destro lock, my imp does minimal damage,as I count on the little guy for him proc'ing ' impowered imp' for the free Soul Fire cast. Most 10mans have a sta buff so the imp's sta buff is not used and if no sta buff, scrolls can be used. The Orc racial trait of command increases my pet's damage by 5%..I can see where a demo lock that could be useful, but as destro is it worth changing over from Goblin with the 1% increase in cast time?
Currently I am sitting at 21.46% haste or 2596. Casting Dark Intent on a toon increase my haste to 25% naturally and can increase to 34% during crits from DI's target. Currently I have no data to supply on how much damage by imp will do during a normal 3-5min on a target dummy

Orc would also give you the boosted Spell Power racial. It's not very much (Like.. what, 200-300?) but it's still free. You'll also get the 15% stun reduction, which could help on some fights.
For raw damage output and raiding strength I'd say Orc is actually much better. For actual utility and usefulness, the Goblin would have to take it - the bank access, Blink, discounts, Alchemy boost, and bonus to HP/Mana potions are very nice, but only really out of combat in most cases.
Go affliction. Affliction is
Go affliction. Affliction is the best.
Seriously though, I've never considered racials to make or break your DPS. An extra 5% on minimal damage is still pretty minimal. The most important things for damage output is knowing your rotation, and knowing where you need to be standing at any given time. No one is shuning warlocks based on their race, and it's not worth paying for a race change for.
I would say a 1% spell haste is technically more helpful, but either way the racial is minimal all things considered. It won't make or break a boss attempt either way.
Aff
I tried Aff once and even leveled an Aff lock to mid 70's and really couldnt get into it. Now with destro recieving some buffs with 4.3 , destro now ranks among the warlock specs. Of course, these sim numbers are with BIS, Tier13heroic...still, I am most comfortable with destro as ive been destro since i started the toon a few years ago...
Appreciate the advice and opinion
intriguing question
I haven't crunched all the relevant numbers and I'm not even sure that I can, but generally I agree with the others that say the race choice isn't that big a deal. I agree with what Cile said except of course the rubbish about affliction :)
True that you don't get the bang for your buck with the imp as much as you used to with the extra health, but like you said, those extra soul fires are huge and relied upon.
I wouldn't change races regardless for quasi RP reasons and also I like the Belf racial in PVP...and it would probably be useful in PVE more if it wasn't such an afterthought.
Race
Yeilds marginal dps returns for warlocks. Orc is slightly higher, but the last figure I saw was at or below 1/2 a percent, during WoTLK Belfs pulled ahead due to the slightly longer mana bar. One upgrade is always going to trump whatever your racial benefits give you. The biggest determining factor for race is going to be utility and/or asthetics. Those are worth paying to change if you feel strongly enough about it.
I'm assuming you've got a cookie cutter simcraft dps spec, and you've taken advantage of all available gear upgrades.
In that case, go with Cile's advice, focus on rotation/priority and knowing your fight...
When I was struggling with DPS, I turned the corner by binding my typical rotation to a multibutton gaming mouse. Not saying this is your answer, but making your rotation as comforatable and intuative as possible will make a world of difference. Also of help to me was modding for proc warnings, dot timers, etc.
Destro can be a bit hectic to pull off max dps with. It's my favorite too, but timing your nukes, procs, and keeping your dots up is a friggin art to say the least... then you're expected to do it while dancing the cata-fire-dodge-tango???
mists talent tree
I know it's off topic, but have any of you looked at the MoP talents you get? Either they want locks as a caster tank or to be really hard to kill in pvp. So many abililties to migitate damage or heal for hefty percentages of health.
What's the big deal? I've
What's the big deal? I've been tanking with my lock since vanilla.
Idk what the hell blizz is thinking
From what I see only 1 tier of the tree even offers a dps boost.
If they are thinking lock tanks (main tanks, not the situational/casty/pet/off-tanky stuff we've been able to do till now), then I will have a very big smile on my face (after I handle this embaracing pants tent I'm sporting).
Demo certainly has all the makings of a tank spec assuming everlasting Meta... add searing pain to the mix and I doubt we'd have threat issues. Just have to work on our survivability a bit... a buff to demon armor and our self healing abilities could do that.
It's very possible, and I can only hope. Granted I had these hopes when they originally announced the meta talent... only to be dissapointed, so I won't hold my breath (or my tent) just yet.
couple things:1, di stacking
couple things:
1, di stacking from crits increases your dot damage by 9%, not your haste.
2, the imp isnt minimal damage, i wanna say from 10-20% of your damage depending on fight.
3, orc racials are slightly higher i believe, but goblin's haste isnt that bad, and the rocket boost can save your life if used appropriately.
4, you are past the 30% haste threshold for the 7th tick of immolate without bloodlust as an orc already, so going goblin isnt going to push you into a new haste threshold. being a goblin will get you another two ticks while lusted vs only one while orc, unless you can get to 2681 haste (as orc). i have no idea how much dps this 9th vs 8th tick counts for dps, especially since it only applies to when lust is up.

That point #4 is the math I was referring to.
