Fun gameplay, fun shooting, fun movement. Pretty deep for a shooter. Multiple classes with unlockables. You can get into the closed beta by "liking" them on facebook.

I actually received a closed beta invite a couple months ago from my time with Global Agenda. They did jetpacks fairly well in that game, and that's.. pretty much all I know about Tribes, that jetpacks are involved. Maybe I should actually start playing..

excuse my british but i fucking LOVED tribes. one of the most fast paced entertaining FPS i'd played in years. i played the original back in the day and god it was fun. i may look into this hehe

I've been playing a bit in between star wars sessions. I enjoy it as a neat diversion though I'm pretty bad at it.

It's quite fast. The big skill challenge is getting the hang of how projectiles (i.e., practically every weapon) work with the skiing mechanic, which itself is somewhat hard to do right.
Wish the class progression was faster, though. ~50 tokens per match, with most classes costing 9800? It's a bit much.

And I've found that as soon as I unlocked the first, cheapest class, the game suddenly decided I was pro and started to match me with people four to six times my level. I'm 5, and I'm playing against level 30 players every game. Even if they weren't incredibly better at the game since they've had so much longer to practice, their gear is better because they've got the XP to max out each class and get all the talents and perks.
So.. yea. Beaten by matchmaking. Joy. I'm not gonna bother playing it again until that gets fixed.

Played it this morning for the first time. Lost the match, but got my share of kills (7 kills, 2 deaths) so a lot better than I do in Counterstrike. :D
