Tranq's Brother's Music Obsession

So a while back I posted my brother's art weblog, which he's using to keep track of the things he's learning and the work he's come up with. A lot of it's mindboggling for me, and I know exactly how 3D modelling works. He's come a long way in a few months. But oddly enough it was music that got him started, not directly 3D animation, though that was important in the music.

In the 90's there was a project titled Animusic, which was a bunch of early 3d animations involving various types of instrument and music and such, usually without a direct musician, with the instruments often playing themselves. It was kinda primitive by today's standards, but the people doing it did an amazing job at interesting a generation in 3D things. YTV is a Canadian channel for youth (Literally Youth Television) that usually held some host segments between programs, and they'd often use a piece of animusic or some other form of early three dimensional art to fill in time; things known as "glitches" to their audience, if I recall right, which I prolly don't. One thing of note is that YTV was the first channel to air ReBoot, which all in all, was a pretty damned awesome cartoon.

Here's one of my own favourites, off the new Animusic DVD compilation they released.

And one that may be more familiar given that it was shown on YTV.

I always loved watching the second one after Reboot, but it annoyed me that they always cut it early.

The first video was pretty awesome.

woooow there's a show I haven't seen in AGES, ahhh early CG, it's crazy to see how far we've come in such a short amount of time. The second part of the first video actually reminded me of one of the 'songs' in the original Diablo.
