I'll likely be running characters on both. During the beta I logged more hours playing Republic toons than Empire but as I was playing I realized that I'm not totally in agreement with everything you're supposed to do as a Republic character.
Since the mechanics of class abilities between the two factions is the same I guess it doesn't really matter which you choose unless you care about the story. And I'll be getting the story by playing everything.
I played some of beta and I really liked the sith but I'm sure in the end game it really won't matter. I mean come on which would you prefer electrocuting players or tossing rocks??!!
I think you're confused.. the horde is not evil. Who kept Orcs as slaves? Who slaughtered the citizens of Lordaeron? Who allowed Illidan to go free? Who attacked an unknown goblin ship?
The Orcs, Forsaken, Bloodelves may be savage, but they're products of their past history. The savagery of the alliance is simply ignorance and greed.
By the same token the empire is mostly not evil, but their leaders are, the sith are. The jedi are misguided, but choosing to play jedi and making darker decisions actually makes you more reasonable than anything, maybe sith making happy decisions does the same thing.
Since I've only played Sith can remark on them, but I have a hunch I would still be inclined of having a Sith main even if I did experience the Republic. But alas, we voted and we shall be Republic. So will make the most of it and have a Republic main and play my Sith alt secretly :)
Who knows, might enjoy Republic. And since my main will be a Trooper, I can easily choose Darkside :)

I am prone to changing my mind about as often as I change my socks, but today I'm all about playing the Sith Inquisitor storyline, thinking of going Sorcerer/Madness. I will likely try everything, I admit it. Also looking forward to making a fat Imperial Agent and a warped warrior.
I do think we need to get a Sith guild going. I suspect many of us will want a taste of the Dark.
We originally decided on the lightside, since we felt they'd have the more mature playerbase, and at the time the classes seemed more interesting. So when the guild deploys, it will be a Republic guild. But yeah we'll have a Sith guild also. In fact, this might be a good time to talk about how to set that up, coordinate getting a group together to go put the Sith guild together and then hand the reins over to Tal. Also a name (Unnatural Disorder? Unnatural Chaos? dunno)
Only thing I worry about is the guild getting too fragmented, and half the players spending time on Sith side, and half playing on Republic side. I think it's too late to change our guild alignment, so we're stuck with Republic for deployment, and that guild will have the Natural Order name. But there's no reason not to make a Sith guild and see how it all plays out.

I found the AH in Dormund Kaas, lol. It's in the market district in the same building holding the bank. I was kinda shocked to see it empty. I was even more shocked when I saw there wasn't any ranged weapons for sale 0.o Decided since I was a armstech to put my lowbie weapons in the AH to make it a proper AH :)
i truly only say this because i still think you can be purely evil in the republic. i know i'm definitely going to roll a true evil toon on republic just ot see how much things change. but as far as sides go, republic side on the server i was on was pretty kind and helpful. as i have heard the same about empire.
