Restro Shaman Macros
So, with patch 4.0 there are two talents in the shaman tree that make it beneficial to be casting offense spells: Focused Insight in tier 2, that causes your shock spells to empower your next healing spell, and Telluric currents in tier 5 that causes your lightning bolt to give you more mana than it costs to cast.
I've made myself a couple of macros so that I can cast shocks and lightning bolt without untargeting the tank. I've opted for earth shock as it reduces attack speed, but feel free to replace it with the shock of your choice.

For those that don't understand macro code, here's how they work: If you have an enemy targeted, the spell casts normally. If you have an ally targeted, then the spell attacks their target. This way you don't need to take your focus off the health bars, and can just tap the appropriate key when you have a lull in healing. I also have the same macro set up for purge that I tap occasionally as well.

I Personally Ignored These
two talents for the time being, to me they seem more pvpish. But for all I know maybe this is what Bliz has in mind for Shaman in the future - i.e., casting offensive spells at a boss while healing the raid.

It's seems like a mana regen technique now. The lightning bolt one seems like that at the least. I thought about taking that one, my only concern was hit rating. Ikuri was spamming smites last night and still doing pretty well on healing last night. I think a majority of her heals were coming from smite splash healing. At least during one of the fights.

have some serious mana regen issues now (enhancement is actually better than it was before, go figure) still not sold on it.
I haven't played raid healer in a regular capacity for a bit now, but I do remember it was enough for me running around avoiding any splash damage, casting heals, and reshuffling my totems to where ever I ran to have have any spare time trying to dps the boss much.
Will see though as time pans out about this.

I mostly grabbed them out of curiosity to test. I've only ran 1 instance with them so far, but my mana regen was fine, I didn't really need lightning bolt, it just gave me something to do. Shocks are instant though, so they're not too hard to work in to boost your next heal. We'll see how they pan out.
