This is my unofficial list of what gear to get, what stats to go for, enchants, gems, etc. Feel free to add comments, suggestions, pointers, etc.

Our stats and what they do

  • Spirit: Your primary mana regen stat
  • Intellect: Increases your total mana amount, your spellpower, and your spell critical hit
  • Stamina: Increases your total health
  • Crit: chance of spells doing extra damge/healing
  • Haste: increases spell casting speed
  • Spellpower: increases spell damage/healing
  • Mastery: for Holy, your direct healing spells heal for an additional 15% over 6 seconds. Each point of Mastery adds 1.25% healing over 6 seconds. For Disc, increases the potency of your damage absorption spells by 30%. Each point of Mastery increases the potency of absorbs by an additional 2.5 %

Generally speaking, Spirit and Intellect will be your primary stats. Crit, Haste, Spellpower, and Mastery will come as you get gear and reforge, etc.

Also, Holy and Disc priests share the same stats now, unlike in Wrath where we favored certain stats over others, so you'll no longer need to maintain seperate sets of gear for Holy over Disc except in minor cases.

Some additional notes:

*For weapons, a dagger or mace and an off-hand is best, though if you must use a staff, that works too.

**For cloth armor, I mostly listed items with spirit. It's ok to take gear that doesn't have spirit on it if it's an upgrade or to balance out other stats. Just make sure you are avoiding +hit gear

***Most gear listed above is either ilvl333 or ilvl346. This is heroic-quality gear. To run heroics, you need a minimum gear level of 329 (though I would recommend 333 or higher if you can get it.)

Reforging

Great post Ikuri!

"For cloth armor, I mostly listed items with spirit. It's ok to take gear that doesn't have spirit on it if it's an upgrade or to balance out other stats. Just make sure you are avoiding +hit gear"

Im sure I am not the only one having trouble finding enough spirit drops, or gear with a ton of crit or hit, and no mastery/haste. I know you touched on refoging at the begining but I thought I would remind everyone how useful it is especially in the begining! It is cheap and can really make a difference in downing bosses which may lead to better upgrades. Frustrating you cant take all the hit off, but transfering some to spirit helps, and I have found a lot more success after converting my crit to haste if an item already has spirit. Just food for thought!

Also I can now craft most the cloth items (only the haste epic set for now- ill get the epic mastery one soon!) and can do all the above listed enchants! Hit me up if you need anything- i have lots of mats :)
