Since there's a fair number of us playing priests as mains or alts, I thought I would compile a resource guide of useful information, websites, etc. Most of this guide is aimed at lvl80 Priests, though there will be some information aimed at leveling priests as applicable. It's also listed in no particular order, though I have tried to group sites up accordingly and provide some descriptions of the type of information to be found at each one.

If there's something you think I should have on this list that I don't, please let me know so I can check it out and add it as necessary! :)

Priest Bloggers

Spiritual Guidance - columnists Dawn Moore and Fox Van Allen write for holy/disc and shdaow priests, respectively over at Wow.com

World of Matticus - although more of a healing blog than a priest blog, site founder Matt Low primarily plays a priest and there are a number of great priest guides at his site

Miss Medicina - another healing blog written by a player that primarily plays the priest class. She also features an exhaustive blogroll of other healing/priest blogs, as well as resources and commentary on playing a raiding priest

Suggested Tools and Addons

Wowhead's Talent Calculator - Wohead's talent calculator, also featuring spots for major and minor glyphs

Rawr Gear Optimizer - gear/talent optimizer tool. Very detailed and expansive

Zusterke's Priest Spell Analyzer - a tool to help healing priests analyze their healing throughput on commonly used spells and abilities

VuhDo - a unit-frames addon that seperates party and raid frames into a highly customizable clickable grid, enabling the casting of one-click/auto-targeted heals

HealBot - similar to VuhDo, though older. More commonly used, though less customizable.

Deadly Boss Mobs - announces incoming encounter events during dungeons and raids, helps tracks mob debuffs on players and other special conditions. Works well with VuhDo

Big Wigs Boss Mods - similar to Deadly Boss Mobs

Deus Vox Encounters - similar to deadly Boss Mobs and BigWigs

Guardian Spirited - addon for priests that creates custom chat announcements for abilities like rezzes, Power Infusion, Guardian Spirit, etc.

OmniCC - a DoT and cooldown timer

ForteXorcist - another DoT and cooldown timer. Although written primarily for Warlocks, it's been fine-tuned to work well for any class

DoTimers - another DoT and cooldown timer

Thanks Ikuri!

I have a level 20 priest that I play once in a while.  I thought it would be a good idea to understand healing mechanics, and all this info is making me JIZZ IN MY PANTS.  (SNL rference - youtube it, I'm not a creepy old man...  :-p)

Keep it coming.  No pun intended.

Good collection of resources, nice to have them all together.

Two more suggestions--the elitist jerks thread and shadowpriest.com

EJ can give a person a headache fast--but they usually have good sticky posts and some people swear by them.

I wish there was something like http://www.empoweredfire.com/ for every class. These women rock the house. I used their mage guide from around 35 to 80. When I have a mage question, this is where I go first.

I also wish there was a better place to send people for leveling/talent builds than wowwiki.  Someplace that would tell you how to level as a few basic specs--things like there's a glyph that's useful for leveling, but not so much after--meaning the lolsmite glyph. I'll try and find it later.

I knew I forgot something--Ikuri, could you list the addons that you use to make recount a better tool for disc? I know there's something for guessed absorbs--something like that. I remember us talking about it--you don't use Skada, I remember that--but posting that would help. Thanks :)

I have mixed feelings about EJ. Some of their information is great - their Shaman thread for example is really top-notch. But some of their information is just too convoluted and aimed at the "wtfbbqleethardcore" crowd. For priests, I much prefer the sites I listed above, though I will amend my post to include the link to EJ. Just know that EJ is not Ikuri's favorite "go-to" site for priestly info.

On Wowwiki for talent builds, I include those because if someone is looking for a quick sample build, that's a good place to look. Most Wowwiki talent build articles include links to several "cookie cutter" specs, as well as a few specialty specs. It's a good place for someone to get an idea on how to spec their character. All of the sites above though have some information on how to build one's talents, if you're willing to dig around and find it.

I hope to add to this eventually, with guidelines on gearing, talents, gemming, enchanting, etc., though I really want to steer clear of saying "this is how you should play your class".

Some people really love EJ

I am not one of them. I consider it a necessary evil, and digging thru a thread for what you want is a pain. You asked for suggestions, I threw some stuff out there--oh and I need to copy that post about setting up bouquets in Vuhdo. I'm slowly learning it--I use it for raid frames on all my characters. I need to work on customizing how the hot timers are displayed.

The wowverse is a vast place and no two people use it quite the same way. I really like what you've done here and I am in no way saying you need to take my suggestions.

There is however, definitely something to be gained from knowing how Ikuri heals vs. how Ella or Tirren heal. There are different styles--I'm thinking of the discussion Ogg and Tal got into on the Tree Like Tal thread. That was really interesting to me--but that's me, not anyone else.

The day I have time to sit down and make a guide that's as all inclusive as yours is the day that I am sober enough to do so.  I don't see that day any time in the future..  In fact... it's kinda hazy.  Wait, is that the vodka?

Oh, and I'm pretty lazy.
