I'm about to go check it out if the servers are back up. I honestly didn't even know about this...I wonder if this is how their gonna start the Cata changes, through a series of quests. I wish one wouldn't have to scan the wowfourms though to find out about it and simple in game letter would be nice.
I found out about it before coming to the guild site because my banker got some in-game mail, going to see if I have enough time before work to check it out.

Well I won't be on much tonight. Get those 10 mans cracking. Get a LK kill tonight for some more people, and get that second group killing Sindy and in there as well, to get some LK practice for THursday's 25 man!
Take you 15 minutes all total, it's pretty short. Fun, though. You get a trinket and a white cloak out of it, and it sets up the beginning of the storyline. Expect the next phase next week maybe.

Seeing as how this quest chain was already implemented in one of the previous patches, one can wonder how many other dormant events/quests they have hidden in the game. There isn't any real phasing with these quests, for instance Sen'jin doesn't start expanding in front of your eyes or as you do this current quest line. It more or less sets up the story and gives it a little foundation, as opposed to a city just popping up unexplained.
I wouldn't be surprised if we see more and more of these "Pre-Cata Quests" popping up within the next few months, it would be nice if they did this weekly with every maintence they run, but your guess is as good as mine with that. This is just a random though, but perhaps they'll implement a new patch before 4.0 or possibly even the 4.0 patch before the Cata release. With that patch may come the ground breaking and world changing events leading up to the actual Cataclysm. I highly doubt this will be the last Pre-Cata quest and it would follow strongly in the foot steps of previous expansion "events".
One things for sure...if their starting these now, Cata can't be to far away. I'll be brave and say Cata will hit before the new year.
We're coming up on a twilight cultist invasion that will likely start in the next couple of weeks. Smart money's on Cataclysm a month or so after Blizzcon.
(This is of course not counting the pre-Cataclysm event where Deathwing actually comes out and fucks everything up, which will be right before the expansion hits.)
an entire server population sitting in one zone. And back then ever server was overpopulated. Ahhh... I remember flying in and it taking me like 5 minutes to actually "land" mobs moving at about 2 frames every 30 seconds. rofl

Like you put it on your existing cloak and it changes the graphic but not the stats?
No.
It's just a normal cloak.
