Min Level = The minimum level to enter the dungeon if you party is not formed with the LFD tool. Note that since 3.03, there is no maximum to use a s summoning stone, but there is a minimum level of 15.
LFD Level = The minimum - maximum level to queue for the instance using the Looking for Dungeon (LFD)
Mob Levels = The minimum – maximum level of “boss” mobs within the dungeon. “Trash” mobs are typically 2-3 levels lower. I generally recommend going for the dungeon about 3 levels below the highest boss mob.

http://www.wowwiki.com/Instances_by_level#World_of_Warcraft I just spent like an hour updating this link with the info above, but now I see that wowwiki isn't supposed to be updated anymore and we're supposed to move to wowpedia - arrrrgh! I'll probably get around to updating this link too, but for now it's still the old info (which may be useful if you want to compare or something I guess) http://www.wowpedia.org/World_of_Warcraft_instances_by_level

Thanks tal, that will be very
Thanks tal, that will be very helpful.. for bc I used lvling guide not sure if I will this time or not.
I think Leveling guides are
I think Leveling guides are obsolete now.
Don't get me wrong - I've leveled at least 5 char's to 60+ (3 to 80) and I used a leveling guide for every one. I remember leveling Mage (my 1st toon) through Silvermoon and Ghostlands, then wandering into Eastern Plaguelands (which seemed to be the only next possible zone) and wondering wtf I got myself into. Well, after who knows how many corpse runs, I finally made it Trisdale Falls and figured I needed to go Google some sort of leveling guide. I used it faithfully to 58 then hit outlands and I still pretty much followed it - or at least glanced at it every level or two to see if I missed anything. When WOLK hit I remember searching for leveling guides and being quite scared that I couldn't find a good one. But you know what - I made it though and even completed my loremaster achievements for each zone as I went.
Looking back at it, the old world was incredibly tough to figure out back in the old days, but since TBC came out it's really not necessary - just complete the number of quests for loremaster in each zone and move on. Blizz has actually done a remarkable job withe their quest hubs and linking it all together in a way that makes sense.
I just completed all the Brill quests again (for like the 5th time), and I was really impressed. They all made sense. Very few of them seemed pointless. They even did a very good job explaining what it means to be Forsaken. My path ahead is pretty clearly laid out. ... All is right with the world (Azeroth)
In wraith i used a lvling
In wraith i used a lvling guid and it took my 5 days to go from 70 to 80... i know those that are lore hounds love to relish every detail fo leveling but after about 2 days i am just absolutely bored to death with quests.. i want real time interactive non scripted play... so whatever i have to do to make the pain of lvling as short as possible is ok by me..
I suppose the leveling guides
I suppose the leveling guides are still good at telling you to skip quest X because the rewards aren't worth the time and there aren't any follow ups. But the default UI finally does an adequate job telling you where you need to go find the items for the quest and where to turn it in at (very useful when it's not the same place where you picked it up). It seems to weird to rember when you needed to have 2-3 addons to do most of that, and it almost required a 2nd monitor so you could keep up the leveling guide as you went along.
But now you just go to one quest hub, complete them all, then take the breadcrumb quest to the next hub. You don't really have to worry about 3 different quest lines taking you to 3 different zones, or picking up a quest in one zone that you can't complete for another 5 levels.
If anything I'll use a quest guide to make sure I didn't miss anything while I try to re-complete all the quests for each zone. But so far I'm enjoying taking my level 1 around and just following the crumbs. But I'm sure by the time I level another alt I'll be ready to just skip ahead as much as possible.
I just wish you could get to
I just wish you could get to L70 w/o having to go to Outland ... again. I'm so no looking forward to Hellfire Peninsula.
Yup
My zeal for levelling my pally will most likely die out once I get to 58.
Sweet
Thanks!
I was thinking where and WTF am I gonna start leveling at (with my alts and my 80's)
Redux
Mage posted this information a few days ago too, along with some more info about Cata leveling here. I could have sworn I'd stickied it but for some reason it wasn't (it is now.)
I unstickied it
I felt what he posted was a bit jumbled, this made things clearer.
I also don't want people generally stickying things that are also published to the front page. if you want to sticky something, then make sure it's also not posted to the front page of the website. One or the other. I'll keep it sticked but remove it from the front page.
I like the map better
I like the map better anyway.
This is exactly what I was trying to show, spread across various tables and spreadsheets, but this is much cleaner...even for a spreadsheet kinda guy like me.
In a few days or weeks all this will seem quite obvious and the point of a map (or spreadsheet) like this will seem quite pointless. Hopefully that's when a few of us will come back and remember when people had to be told that Azshera was the new level 10-20 zone (instead of 50-55, or whater the heck it used to be). We'll laugh and just about everyone will wonder what the hell we're laughing about - except for Relm who will be suspiciously abscent from the thread. Just watch...
Kinda weird personal timelines
I havent seen any real difference in outlands or northrend which means you will level 1-60 in the current story arc then go back in time to the BC era and progress through Lich King and back into the current story arc. Kinda odd from an individual character standpoint.
yeah
someone mentioned that at blizzcon. They basically said they'll update BC and LK when they get a chance.
Also, been levelling my Tauren Pally and they have LOTS of breadcrumb quests so you know where to head to be in an appropiate zone. There are breadcrumb quests in the zone you are levelling in and the signs in major cities that also tell you where you can level. The billboard quests are basically "Garrosh needs to you to go 'HERE' and defend the Horde (etc)"
So far I've gotten through Mulgore, Azshara, Stonetalon mtns, and Desolace. I started Feralas, but may skip straight to 1k Needles b/c I'll hit 40 soon and want some plate quest rewards. :D
Also, There's usually 2-3 quests that give you Superior (blue) gear per zone now I think. A majority of my gear is blue and I haven't stepped into an instance yet.
OH! And I recommend everyone do the quest line in Stonetalon at least once. I have a bit more respect for Garrosh than before. I would actually now put him before a basic campfire. I actually had issue with the last 2 quests in that zone, they basically cover how ugly war can be.
respect for garrosh? pshaw
You mean you'd put him into the fire & roast his stupid ass on a spit? And yeah, I guess I do need to do Stonetalon, but my Tauren pally is leveling pretty fast--I may need to go there right now. I wandered up into the Hinterlands to see how things had changed; some of the quests are the same, they've added a flight point and a quest hub.
I have run maybe 4 or 5 instances and really like having the questgivers in the instance. Otherwise, little has changed--people are still greedy and stupid; except when they're not.
I swear they've made leveling faster--we're all zipping along. At this rate Tart's warrior and Kib's pally will be 80 by Dec. 7.
I have found no blue gear in the zones I've done, but I'm very much NOT a completionist. I wander.
