Wicked Lasers has allegedly worked out how to create a 1W blue laser that they can sell for $200.  For those of you unfamiliar with lasers, this is a Class Four device, which covers everything from about 500mW up to the laser from Real Genius.  To give you an idea of its power:

If you point it at a piece of paper, the piece of paper will burn almost instantly.

If you point it at someone's shirt, their shirt will begin to smolder.

If you use this near an airport or highway you can be charged with a federal offense.

If you point this in someone's eye, they will be blinded instantly and permanently.

If you point this at a wall without wearing proper eye protection, the reflected light will blind you.

IF YOU POINT THIS AT SOMEONE'S ARM YOU CAN GIVE THEM SKIN CANCER.
