Legendarily Speaking

Finally 4.2 has dropped and we have new raiding content to conquer. Huzzah! Along with all the other shiny purple loot there is a new legendary weapon, Dragonwrath. It's a caster staff. It requires 25 eternal embers, which drop off Firelands bosses. These embers are BOP and cannot be traded. It requires a bunch of other stuff, but you need to gather the embers first. It makes sense for one person to be designated to collect the embers and work towards creating Dragonwrath. That person should have excellent raid attendance, play a caster as their main, and be someone who is committed to remaining with Natural Order.
Zee fits all the above criteria and has put tons of time and energy into the guild, stepped up as raid leader, and for these reasons, the officers selected him. He will be getting the embers, and eventually the staff. If Zee is not in the raid group when an ember drops, it is up to that raid leader to decide whom to loot it to. Also, there may well be an opportunity for a second legendary staff, so keep that in mind as well.
Some of you may wonder why you didn't get a chance to speak up and express interest in the staff. Some may wonder why we didn't open this decision up to the entire guild. We've tried a couple different methodsof dealing with legendary weapon components in the past: we used EPGP in ICC, which was fair but no one ended up getting Shadowmourne completed. We also tried soliciting interest from the guild and rolling for who got first crack at the shards in Ulduar for the healing mace. That didn't work out well either. In the end, it is just a fact of life that whatever decision is made, someone doesn't like it.

!
I think this method is as good as any. I give this the "Boy, Nerg sure bitches a lot" seal of approval.
As someone who has tried just about everything to get his Shadowmourne together, I've seen first hand the problems with using traditional loot rules to try to manage the creatiion of a legendary. It takes 100x as long and everyone gets to be unhappy together. I don't think this is unfair that the officers pick a good candidate given that it's a guild effort to build a legendary, if someone really dislikes this they always have the option to PuG raids or raid with other guilds.
All I would say is that when Zee has all his primordial saronite or whatever, it would be cool if other casters could get a real shot at getting these, and I'd recommend something more controllable like epgp, upto and including a bidding system for these items only. As a warrior I don't care, but I'd like this system in place if/when tanks eventually get a legendary (DW's chin)
Also, as a lore nut, if the awesome quest events aren't phased to Zee only it would be cool to see them.
Does this mean I'm not the
Does this mean I'm not the most complainy person in the guild?
No
Shut your pie hole.
I will definitly be posting
I will definitly be posting when I will be turning in the quests so that folks can be around for the next part. I will also try to set up fraps in case their are cinematics.
Thank you to the officers and the guild for letting me take shot at this legendary, together I think we can actually make this one happen!
Sounds good to me
I had been meaning to post a question about how NO does Legendaries, or intended to do Dragonwrath, but got distracted (it happens a lo...ooh, shiny). If it had been a guild discussion/vote, I probably would have voted for Zee anyway. I'd love to get one myself, but I'm pretty new and have crappy attendance right now, and at the most fundamental level, Zee rulez.
Huzzah Zee!
No issues here
This is one of those things where you have to commit yourself, and the rest of the guild, in order to get it done. Trying to spread the wealth or any sort of system that may seem "more fair" just doesn't work. Loot council certainly doesn't work for everything all the time, but sometimes it's really the only option.
Hopefully once we start rolling through the content we'll start to see lots of shards dropping - I saw 1 drop on the first boss we downed. If that keeps up, there could well be a chance for some others to come later. If blizzard can keep from completely dropping the current tier once the next tier comes out we may even see a couple of them. In so much as we still run ICC to help people get achievs and such, I can see running firelands stull well into the future just for lore/fun/completionist attitudes.

I think a hunter should have gotten a chance. ALL WEAPONS ARE HUNTER WEAPONS!
My favorite part...
...is that your main isn't even a hunter. Go tame some special pets and be quiet. :-p
I wouldn't even make the joke
I wouldn't even make the joke if my main were a hunter. I'm not a complete asshole.
Incorrect!
You mistakenly added a 'not' in there. You may want to correct that.

If this indeed be the will of the Council,
then Tumorbane will see it through.
Seriously, Zee is a great choice and I'm glad the guild leadership made a prompt and solid decision. Assembling this staff is an epic drop for all of us. I echo the mentions above that I would like to see as many of the quest turn-ins as possible.

The grizzled elder tauren sleeping in his comfy chair, snores loudly in approval, trusting his underlings to make these decisions while he completes the Talsleep.
More info on the staff
Here is the quest line for the staff. It's in the comment section.

It looks like after we get the 25 embers, the quest line becomes less focused on drops. The only thing it seems to need is the Heart of Ragnaros to turn it into an orange item, same with the lich king.
Therefore, the amount of people that can get this staff is directly tied to how many bosses we can kill as a guild.
To be honest...
If they leave this staff as-is through future expansions, I forsee farming runs for this staff far in to the future. Effectively its an extra mount, and there will always be someone who wants to have it to have it.
oooohhh
mayhbe next expansion we can come back and I'll do that. haha!
Yeah right
If I'm lucky I might have a caster at level by next expac :-D
Looking the itemization and
Looking the itemization and item level I have to think this will be THE caster item to have throughout this xpac - once 4.3 and maybe 4.4 come this should still be the preferred dps weapon - like the healy legendary was from ulduar. There were top 100 guilds still trying to get it for someone to use it for hard mode LK kills at the end of ICC. With 3 red sockets it should continue to scale well with the new gems we'll see in 4.3 or 4.4.

It's....
a good thing Zee's gonna get the staff, cause Relm has unchained magic.

I am bumping this thread for the new folks showing up and asking what is up with eternal embers. I am currently at 17/25, after I reach 25 the drops will open up for more people to get their hands on some.
Sweet
Also, in case it's been asked. If an Eternal Ember drops in a raid, and Zee is present - it's his. If he is not present, then who it goes to is at the discretion of the guild officers present. What I've been doing in most of these cases is having it go to a dps caster. If no dps caster is present, then I've been giving it to a healer that can use a staff. The condition is that they have to be on the quest, or the ember can't be looted to them.
Also, once looted, the ember is untradeable. So no looting and then trying to trade it to someone later - it won't work.
Need to be this far
http://www.wowhead.com/quest=29135 If you don't have the quest titled "All-Seeing Eye" in your quest log, you cannot pick up the Eternal Embers.
