I was going to post up a reminder for the ICC 10 gearing/alt run for this upcoming Sunday. But after some chatter in Mumble last night after our LK attempts (which is going very nicely btw) a number of people wanted to get another 25 man going. Even though these runs have been refered to as alt/gearing runs, mains will be taken over an alt and I think many of you would agree with that. Yes, some of us don't need much more from ICC, but a good amount of us could use a few more pieces to give us that edge on the LK.

Unfortunately not everyone can make it and I apologise for that, but again, the stars are never going to align and allow EVERYONE to make every raid, the best we can do is to try to get as many people to come to an agrement as possible. And depending on how well this goes, I might even save the lock out on my DK, we'll see how everyone feels come raid time.

See you there!

keep in mind also

If you went on Thursday to the progression 25 man.... YOU ARE NOT LOCKED TO IT.... Only Ikuri is. Unless you kill a boss in ICC you don't get locked when you enter it. So since we didn't kill Arthas, anyone who was in the progression raid can go on Sunday to Xyro's raid and gear up in lower citadel ..well anyone other than Ikuri...

So if you were thinking "Damn I want to go gear, but I was in the progression raid" then THINK AGAIN...you CAN GO.

What Tal said

Ikuri's picture

Everyone else is cleared to go but me since I'm holding the 25man lockout. My pally, Xianne, can go however, so if I can get the munchkin settled, I will try to be there for tanking duties.

oo oo oo...I have 2pt10 can I

We should be able to make it, I think our schedule is clear that night. I'll ask her when she gets up.

I should be able to make it.

My rogue could still use some of the lower cit gear from 25 man.

Signed up on Mel

can take her or my hunter--and I will sit for any mains who need gear.

Decisions decisions...

Xyro's picture

Seeing as how Xyro isn't locked to 25 man I wouldn't mind brining him as I can still use some pieces from 25 man, namely trinkets, wand and the sanctified marks. I have been tanking the 10 man Gearing/Alt runs for the past few weeks on Xilvia (which is more than capable of handling 25 mans now), but seeing also how we may have our normal tanks go I don't know how our tank situation will be.

It seems like we've had a rather large influx of tanks recently, just please remember this is a run to gear your main over an alt, obviously also MS before OS rolls.

Yeah we can see who shows up

Melindra's picture

and maybe figure it out then. I figured I'd dps, since we seem okay on tanks. I'd like to bring my hunter for rep & badges--but whatever the group needs is fine.

But, My main is Joxmu....and

Joxmu's picture

But, My main is Joxmu....and and...main spec is Tank spec....so if I have to switch to DPS for the raid, can I rollz on tank gearz?  (Not that I have ANY priority over anyone....heheheheheheheheheh)

My personal thoughts

Xyro's picture

I do realise that your MS for Jox is tanking and I know how hard it can be to get tank gear at times given we kind of have 'set tanks', at least for progression sake. Believe me I have a similar issue with my tank which is almost my only spec for him since I fail at DK dps (Which is why I've been signing my tank up instead of Xyro for these gearing runs). But I think this is best discussed among the raid, come raid time since we don't know who will actually be tanking this weeks gearing run (I'm also not sure out of our usual tanks who has viable DPS OSs).

I feel though whoever ends up tanking doesn't truly need something, that it wouldn't be out of the question for someone as yourself to get to roll or even get said item for tanking. Again, this is something I feel has to be dealt with 'come raid time'. Those are just my 2 cents.

I'll sign up on Warfury...

Warfury's picture

...and try to come. The only thing I'd like to ask is that I be allowed to get some tank stuff, since I'm sorta an official tank (at least for 10mans). If not, that's cool.

What?

kibito's picture

The Interrupt King is tanking?

Prot has interrupts too...

Warfury's picture

So I'm not TOO far out of my element... :)

Actually...

kibito's picture

it prolly has more. =D

Still weirded out though... haha

But I tanked the Nightfall

Censura's picture

But I tanked the Nightfall kill so I want tank stuff too.

Not serious, just trying to make a point.  Tanks roll on tank stuff, dps rolls on dps stuff.

Actually no (see also Ikuri's comment)

Melindra's picture

There are a few people in this guild who raid in both specs often enough to roll on both. Samm is tank/heals, Mel is prot/ret, and Warfury is fury/prot and has been tanking one of our progression 10-mans. From my experience I can tell you it takes a damn long time to gear working on two sets at the same time.

This is one of the things I really like about ep/gp--it is tied to your characters and is a fair way to determine who gets what. Some items take forever to replace, like trinkets, because you're not just rolling against those in your armor class, you're rolling against all physical dps plus hunters.

Clarification

Ikuri's picture

Our rule is Mains>Alts, Main Spec>OffSpec.

with us doing alt/main runs, I think it might be a good idea to adjust the loot buttons on EPGP Lootmaster to account for different rolls. Maybe something like:

Main Spec

Offspec

Alt Main Spec

Alt Offspec

Greed

The Lootmaster has final say on the loot distribution, and though we rarely invoke that authority, it is our right to deviate from the rolls as stated in our Rules Bible. The order above would be the priority order, and from there it is broken down by Priority Rating (PR). We try to take into account rolls for people that are required to gear equally as dual spec (Samm, Mel, War are the best examples I can think of offhand) and we do look at whether the item is a significant upgrade for someone or not. But generally we stick to the PR order.

Thoughts on coming up with a uniform Lootmaster button setup?

I really don't see the

Cacciatore's picture

I really don't see the problem with just using the current system. I think we're mostly enough of adults to be reasonable about loot distribution without getting butt hurt.

If the officers make a deterimination to give loot to someone specific, I'd hope they're doing so for the betterment of the raid, not a personal bias. We gear to raid, not raid to gear.

If there's someone that appears to be in a reasonable position to benefit the guild as a whole as an alternative spec, then I'm all for helping them out. If you're just trying to get a few tanking pieces to run heroics with, and be ready for that possiblity in Cata, I think you can do that well enough on your own without the assistance of the guild, or taking away from someone with a legitimate need.

Bingo.

QFT - "We gear to raid, not raid to gear."

Hell, to be honest, I don't even remember the last time Relm even got loot.  I'm there for the challenge and fellowship; even though you guys pay Tuvasi to beat on me.

I take offense to that

Talarashne's picture

We've NEVER paid her. She does it out of the goodness of her own sweet heart.

We do it...

because we care, Relm :P

My apologies for being a no-show

Parents were visiting to see the baby and just couldn't get them to leave! RL 1, Saf 0.

Yeah sorry for not showing

It's sunday night and i'm working, so...you know....that sucks...

More tanks might be needed

Poxumbra's picture

I think that tanks will be more necesary in Cata than they are now.   The 10 man loots being = to 25 mans will mean that we are more likely to run 3 ten mans than to run a 25 man and sit 5.  This will require double the tanks of a regular 25 man raid so the more people we have comfortable tanking the better, just make sure that you have another spec available wether on your tank character or another character.

Allow me to add my apologies for not showing.

My parents got back into town from Montana, and my mother required help unloading their stuff and the dogs. Sadly, my father has become severely infirm recently, and thus couldn't help with any of it; hopefully now that they're back in civilization (seriously, look up Sula, MT and see what kind of nothingness it resides in), he can get checked out. Anyway, see you guys Tuesday.

Thanks Everyone!

Last night went nicely, with us even doing Heroic Gunship with many alts. We didn't shard one piece (Which I love to see) and I think some people were still fairly new to ICC, so it's great to get people in there and become familar with fights.

Don't fret to much about not being able to make the raid guys, as it was Cacc voluntered to sit, since we were one man to heavy. We did call it after downing Saurfang since it was getting late and we lost about 5 people. Also many thanks to Cacc for initiating heroic mode for the Gunship battle, people got some nice goodies out of there. As usual I'll be running another Gearing run for this upcoming Sunday and if we don't kill LK (Which we will) I don't see why we couldn't do another 25 man, if not we'll do the usual 10 man.

On a side note it seems like tanks are becoming more and more frequent. Sure some aren't peoples mains or main specs, but it doesn't mean their not up to the task of handling ICC right now. Just some names that come to mind are Xianne (Iky), Jox, Censura, Safardeya, Roobik, Xilvia (Xyro), Malky, Kibs, Whompum (Pox), Samm, Mel, Tart, Warfury, Tal, Summerlilly's DK Tank and I'm sure there's more that I'm forgetting. That's 15 right off tha bat, again not all are mains...really most are alts, but just sayin' we do have em if need be.
