Name: Rayek
Class: Warlock
Level: 85
Primary Spec: Affliction
Off-spec: Demonology

2. What alts, if any, do you have that you also wish to join the guild? (same format as above)

Name: Liani
Class: Rogue
Level: 20
Primary Spec: Assassination

Tell us about your gaming history...

3. What previous and current MMO's have you/do you play?

WoW is the only MMO that I've played.

4. Describe what makes a good gamer, in your opinion:

Someone who is friendly and civil, respectful to other gamers; who gets satisfaction from doing things right and is willing to try again and again until they get them right; someone who recognizes the division between games and real life.

5. On a scale of 1 to 10 tell us how good a gamer are you, and why?

8 or 9, I'm respectful and patient, but I don't pour my entire life into a game so I don't always have the biggest NUMBERS.

6. Have you been in any other guilds, specifically in WoW and on Farstriders? How about in other games or on other servers? Which? Why did you, or why are you leaving them?

I'm currently in Daughters of the Alliance on my alliance-side toons. On this specific character I've been in 3 different guilds:

-Caketown (raided in BC; left when guild broke up)

-Falling Leaves (joined after leaving Caketown; left because guild chat was too sexist and offensive for me to cope)

-Haven of Sanity (raided all throughout Wrath and early Cata; leaving now because guild has broken up)

7. What do you like to do with your time in WoW?

I like seeing new content. I created a bunch of alts when Cata dropped to level through the revamped zones and see all the new quests. On my max-level characters I farm rep and clear out old content, but if I'm not making progress towards any goal I get bored and stop.

Talk to us about Natural Order...

8. How did you hear about Natural Order?

I asked around for a guild from the wow_ladies LJ community and bonavox referred me here.

9. Is there a current member of Natural Order who could reference you in a good or bad way? (Who?)

bonavox75 is their LJ name, but I do not know them in game, so they can't really speak to my raiding habits. :)

10. Have you read all of the posts in the About Natural Order section of the forum? (this is very important to us)

Yes

11. What are your expectations? What do you think you will gain from joining Natural Order, and why are you applying?

I'd like to join a guild that's friendly and respectful, and I'd also like to raid. I don't really care about raiding every week or pushing progression content, but I'd really like to see Cata endgame content before the expansion ends.

12. What do you think you can bring to the guild? Why are we going to be happy you joined us?

I'm funny, friendly, and a very reliable raider. I'm helpful to guildmates (within reason; I won't drop what I'm doing to run a low-level alt through Stockades 5 times) and a lot of fun to talk to. :)

13. If you are interested in 25 man raiding with us, what are your available nights and times for 25 man raids?

I am interested in 25 man raiding, and I'm available any night except Saturdays, and any time after 6 PM Pacific.

14. If you are interested in raiding with us, are you willing to build a secondary set on this character, and respec as necessary (generally to dps) if the raid needs it, without bitching excessively?

Yes.

Tell us about you...

15. Do you meet our age requirement?

Yes.

16. How old are you, if you don't mind us asking?

27.

17. If we had a party in real life, what would you bring?

Cheese and crackers.

18. Do you know what parachute pants are?

No

19. If the answer to 18 is yes, did you ever own any?

N/A

20. If the answer to 19 is yes, do you still own them?

N/A

21. If the answer to 20 is yes, dear god why?

God only knows

22. Pick one: Moist or Cornbread.

Moist von Lipwig, Postmaster General and Master of the Mint

23. Are you married?

No, not married, no boyfriend.

24. If so does your spouse or partner play games, too? If they don't, how do they feel about you playing games?

N/A

25. Do you have kids? What ages?

No kids, though I'd like to have some someday.

26. What activities or hobbies do you have other than gaming?

I like to read and write. I also like to bike :)

27. Fill in the blanks above with the following options...

Huh, that's weird.  I started

Rejad's picture

Huh, that's weird.  I started a guild for a personal guild bank called Falling Leaves years and years ago on some other server.  Haven't touched those toons in years.

Ugh-oh: "guild chat was too

jak3676's picture

Ugh-oh: "guild chat was too sexist and offensive"  Last night there was an on-going discussion on why college aged men can't satisfy a woman - granted I think all the participants were female.  But we are known to tip toe right up to that line between modesty and raunchy, then spend the next hour dancing around on the wrong side of the line, naked, while wearing a dead gnome as a hat and carrying an off-hand of questionable utility.  Oh, something about a mechanical squirrel too - don't ask.

App looks good though :)

We're generally pretty good about that though

Jaleika's picture

We're crude and offensive sometimes (yes, I realize coming from me in particular this is hilarious), but from what I've seen people generally stop it when someone gets upset, and I haven't seen much in the way of sexist or I'd probably be rampaging in guildchat.

I still have /trade channel active on several characters so I have a bit of a suspicion as to the kind of things she's talking about, and we don't do that.  Hell, we've kicked people for that before.

The conversation in question

Rayek's picture

The conversation in question involved various acts of defecating and urinating on prostitutes. I don't really consider myself a prude, and I totally agree that adults should be able to hold conversations on sexual themes without worrying about who they'll offend, but there really is a limit. :)

We have quite a few ladies in

Cacciatore's picture

We have quite a few ladies in our ranks, and leadership. Everything looks good to me. We wait 24 hours for everyone to get to read your app and ask any questions if they'd like. Remember to check back.

Hi!

Ikuri's picture

Yes that was me! Glad to see you came over and submitted an application. :)

This is an 18+ guild, so conversations can veer sometimes into topics that are kind of borderline. Most people can tell the difference between good-natured silliness and actual sexism Like Mage said above, last night a lot of the girls in chat were discussing male performance. For the most part, people keep chat from getting too out of hand, and officers are quick to step in and handle it when it does cross the line. And with as many female officers/veteran members as we have, the men in this guild know better than to act like sexist pigs (well, most of the time anyway...sometimes I think they do it because they like when we yell at them.)

But seriously, we have a zero-tolerance policy on harassment, etc. Like Jal said, we've /gkicked people for it before. It's something we take seriously, and if anyone ever felt/feels uncomfortable in chat or goup, we'd want to know about it.

So, favorite thing to do in WoW? Favorite memory? WHow do you like playing a Warlock?

See comment above, I'd rather

Rayek's picture

See comment above, I'd rather not go into too much detail on the conversation that drove me out of Falling Leaves 'cos it's not really fit for public consumption. But even before that final straw there was constant, NONSTOP discussion of bitches and hos and how they should be kept in line, any time a female player spoke up in gchat there would be a barrage of 'jokes' about 'get back in the kitchen,' 'women should be seen and not heard,' etc. Got very wearing.

Haven was mostly much better about that sort of thing, though still an adult guild... We always seemed to have one orc male ele shaman (it was three or four DIFFERENT players, but somehow it was ALWAYS a male or ele shaman) on trial who would pull huge DPS numbers and then decide that gave him open license on any of the women in the guild... One night he was nonstop pestering the pally off-tank (who was married and had kids and who usually tried to ignore things rather than standing up for herself) to give him lap dances, blow jobs etc, until I finally blew my top at him and told him to shut it. He was gone the next week, but then we had ANOTHER fifteen-year-old male orc ele shaman who'd start throwing his weight around, telling the raid leader that he should do things according to HIS strats, refuse to use DBM, etc. Oy.

Sorry bout the rant, I realize that wasn't what you were asking. Favorite thing to do is actually probably dailies, as odd as that sounds? As long as they're making progress to some goal, like getting exalted with a faction I need. I like doing quests too, but usually if I'm tired and don't want to have to THINK about what I'm doing I find the repetition of dailies pretty soothing. :)

Probably one of my favorite memories is back when we were raiding Karazhan in Caketown. They were a very small and casual guild, not pushing progression like Haven did (I still never saw Sunwell or Black Temple while raiding in BC; it was Kara, Mags and Gruul at most.) and we had a LOT of fun in our raiding groups. One week I spent the entire raid night my mage without realizing I'd forgotten to put his pants back on. *g* Well, he wears a dress, how am I supposed to tell?!

Yeesh

Ikuri's picture

Yeah...that kind of talk never happens here. The worst you'd get is one of the silly boys acting like a clumsy flirt, and even then they are just joking around. These guys know better. ;)

Yes, yes we do...

Iky will put on her "Mom voice" and put us in the corner.  Sadly she won't spank us because she knows we would secretly like it too much.

Rayek's picture

I'm used to being one in a crowd when it comes to 'locks. Before Haven fell apart, in its core group of 25 raiders we had FIVE warlocks -- never fewer than four on any given raid, and sometimes as many as six.

That's how we used to be...

but with druids. I miss those days. We still need to have an all druid raid sometime. haha

Multiple warlocks did make

Rayek's picture

Multiple warlocks did make the Lich King fight easier, though! On our first ever LK kill, we had five warlocks in the raid and EXTRAORDINARY luck with the vrykul phases; on at least every phase at least  one warlock was grabbed, and on one phase two of them were. Probably a good part of what enabled us to down him that night :)
