Guild Introduction: Lasarian

1. Your Main
Name: Lasarian
Class: Paladin
Level: 85
Primary Spec: Holy
Off-spec: Protection
2. What alts, if any, do you have that you also wish to join the guild? (same format as above)
None at the moment.
Tell us about your gaming history...
3. What previous and current MMO's have you/do you play?
World of Warcraft was my first MMO. I played Ever Quest II for a very brief period of time, then went back to WoW. Before WoW, I played Baldur's Gate and all its sequels. I still love that game, despite its age.
4. Describe what makes a good gamer, in your opinion:
I'm a good player because I try my best when I'm in a group, work to improve and understand my class, and always make sure my gear is enchanted, gemmed and ready to go before the next raid or dungeon. I don't believe in yelling at guild members when mistakes are made, and I know my own limitations.
5. On a scale of 1 to 10 tell us how good a gamer are you, and why?
I'm an 8.75 because I definitely have room for improvement on my off spec (I still have a huge fear of tanking), and there's always something you can do better.
6. Have you been in any other guilds, specifically in WoW and on Farstriders? How about in other games or on other servers? Which? Why did you, or why are you leaving them?
I was originally in Consilio et Animis on Hydraxis, which I left for very personal reasons. I went to Moon Guard and joined Inglorious Brash Nerds, which I left after the GM and a group of us had a very nasty encounter. I made up my own guild, named Team Zed, along with a group of people from Brash Nerds (I did not ask them to follow me). I left Team Zed in the hands of my officers when I had to take a leave of absence due to illness, and when I returned, they had run it into the ground, and most of the members had left. I just don't have the energy to start the guild running from the ground up again. I joined a guild on Killrog, which I am in currently, however after they continually tell pugs to watch their language after someone says "ass" or "shit" and then have an in-depth discussion about whether or not to kick them from the raid, I began to see that the guild is not for me. They're super nice people, but I think I'm not shiny enough for them.
7. What do you like to do with your time in WoW?
I like to rep grind, do achievements, raid, and chat in vent or mumble and be social. I collect pets and mounts.
Talk to us about Natural Order...
8. How did you hear about Natural Order?
Through WoW Ladies Livejournal
9. Is there a current member of Natural Order who could reference you in a good or bad way? (Who?)
No there isn't.
10. Have you read all of the posts in the About Natural Order section of the forum? (this is very important to us)
Yes I have.
11. What are your expectations? What do you think you will gain from joining Natural Order, and why are you applying?
I am hoping to find a social guild, where people are friendly, can laugh, and aren't so afraid to say something that might offend someone, that everyone stays silent in vent or mumble. I play WoW mostly for the social side of things; it's what has kept me playing since BC.
12. What do you think you can bring to the guild? Why are we going to be happy you joined us?
I can bring a fairly well geared holy paladin (wow heroes 4909) who will do her best in raids or heroics. I am a JC with many Cata recipes, and I'm an engineer who can bring the ever fun and useful Jeaves to groups!
13. If you are interested in 25 man raiding with us, what are your available nights and times for 25 man raids?
I am usually available for every night but Wednesday.
14. If you are interested in raiding with us, are you willing to build a secondary set on this character, and respec as necessary (generally to dps) if the raid needs it, without bitching excessively?
My Protection set is actually quite well geared, but I need a lot of practice tanking to be truly useful. I have only tanked OS3D and Ruby Sanctum, and a handful of heroics. I would prefer not to dps, as I have never been good at dps and I hit like a baby girl using a wet noodle as a weapon. It really is sad and pathetic. :(
Tell us about you...
15. Do you meet our age requirement?
Yes I do.
16. How old are you, if you don't mind us asking?
I am 39 years old.
17. If we had a party in real life, what would you bring?
A bottle of fireball whiskey.
18. Do you know what parachute pants are?
Yes. *shudder*
19. If the answer to 18 is yes, did you ever own any?
No.
20. If the answer to 19 is yes, do you still own them?
N/A
21. If the answer to 20 is yes, dear god why?
N/A
22. Pick one: Moist or Cornbread.
I can't have moist cornbread? *sigh* Moist.
23. Are you married?
No.
24. If so does your spouse or partner play games, too? If they don't, how do they feel about you playing games?
N/A
25. Do you have kids? What ages?
No.
26. What activities or hobbies do you have other than gaming?
I read smut novels (romance) and slash, play with my cats (I have four) and I spend time with my sisters and their families. I also help out with my sister’s restaurant from time to time.

Greetings, thanks for
Greetings, thanks for applying.
We recently had another member come via LJ, it's actually kind of startling the number of cross realm applicants we've had recently. Are there good rumors floating around the interwebs about us?
The person who recommended
The person who recommended you had very good things to say about the guild. :)
Definitely roll
something on Farstriders and see what you think. Our standard procedure is to wait 24 hours before we accept anyone's application; that gives everyone time to comment, weigh in, etc.
And four cats! Yay! I have three, they are my spoiled darlings :)
My four are pretty much hinz
My four are pretty much hinz 57s, but I love them. Two were pound rescues, one from the SPCA, and one from my nephew. The youngest is 8 months, the only boy, and is constantly a going concern. They are my babies. Who needs kids when you can have cats? *grin*
Agreed!
Good ole domestic shorthairs are all I have, and all rescues of one type or another. They keep my life interesting, that's for sure. :)
!
I generally don't respond to applications, but the highlighting caught my attention long enough to read the whole thing. I like the answers. I know we've got a few Paladin tanks that are raidworthy (case in point, Melindra ^), so they could definitely help you learn. As far as I've heard, tanking overall has had its difficulty nerfed substantially since the OS/RS Wrath days, so with a bit of guidance it shouldn't be hard at all to get used to doing it. Of course, I haven't played in months, but I did Warrior tanking for a long time before losing interest in the game.
As for the other answers.. it sounds like you'd fit in quite well. Cats are quite a focus for a lot of people (self included, shorthair tabby + russian blue), as is discussing the kind of things one would find in 'romance novels'. The only real limits to our guild chatter are the extremely offensive (racism, homophobia, copious sexism, etc) and their related terms - we have an Over 18 policy for a reason, that being so that we don't have to deal with younger players' parents seeing what we're actually saying. I don't think having an alt to test the waters would be a problem, and to be really honest I'm actually kinda happy to see you're careful enough to do that.
Out of curiosity, what kind of restaurant? Tranq deals primarily in Italian and French cuisine, and I know we've got people proficient in practically every other ethnicity's cooking style.
Racism makes my eyes twitch,
Racism makes my eyes twitch, and as I have 3 gay friends, homophobia makes get all grr and argh. Being a woman has sometimes been difficult in WoW. I have, at times made suggestions in raids which were ignored, only to have a male say the same thing and suddenly it's a great idea. It can be extremely frustrating. My sister is pretty much a general family restaurant. She serves everything from fish and chips, to mexican to some amazing pastas. She's an incredible cook. They have these awesome theme nights where the staff dresses up according to what they're serving on the buffet. It's extremely popular.
!
Well, our dedicated raid leader (Ikuri) is a woman, as are 2/3rds (Melindra + Jaleika vs. Ogg) of the senior officer rank, so being ignored on a gender basis is generally a nonissue, and if it becomes one, it gets rectified very quickly. Anyone who crosses the dialogue-choices line tends to get a single warning before either being muted (There's a specific rank for that) or just kicked from the guild, same goes with harassment and whatnot.
I like the idea of a theme night. Closest I think I've come to such though is simply playing a CD of indian music while preparing vindaloo or tikka masala.
Everyone needs to have a
Everyone needs to have a panda cat.
That is all.
You said you would bring
You said you would bring fireball whiskey to a party. I really don't care about the rest of the application. I'm already sold.
I believe all is well at this
I believe all is well at this point.
Welcome Aboard, catch someone in-game for an invite.
So is it alright to roll a
So is it alright to roll a lowbie for a trial period?
No problem

Bump
Bumping this up so if anyone needs to check the forums for it they can find it easy. Lasarian has been approved for membership, but they'll be joining on an alt first to assess the guild before transferring over a main. I know we get asked by newbies all the time if they can join guild, but if you get a whisper, please take a moment to find out who they are, if they applied on the website, and who they applied as. Most of you can send out invites, and you just need to put the person's main name in their notes field, and promote them to Komsomol after inviting.
Also my apologies Lasarian - I understand you tried to cotnact a few people and were either passed off to another person, or ignored entirely. While I realize that whispers can get lost in chat windows, it's still not a good reflection on our guild to have ignored a new member. So I hope you try to get in touch with someone again, and when you do please tell them Ikuri said to check the forums for your app and to extend you an invite.
