I think they should have tried to arrest all of the anarchists (the Black Bloc ones) even if they hadn't yet broken the law, and those from out of country deported and put on a no fly list. "You're all in black with a ski mask? Right, come with us." I feel most sorry for the merchants whose windows are smashed and stores in shambles. Protests my ass. An excuse to vandalize.
Valid protest is one thing. Just being a shithead is another. People are always going on about "POLICE BRUTAILITY OMG POLICE STATE", but from the news reports I've seen so far all the violence has been caused by idiots like this.

Some anarchists walked through part of pittsburgh trying to get a crowd to riot, and all they managed to do was break windows and cause minor damage to storefronts. They were protesting globalization and the stores they damaged were all independent owned and operated stores. So basically they're idiots. they just are there to stir thigns up because they'r douchebags, and they do it every year and get hte cops hopped up, and then the cops end up hurting innocent people.
I blame the anarchists for the whole thing though.
However that picture is all kinds of awesome. I want to put it on a shirt.
There was a follow up story in another local paper on "weird car fire guy". The below picture may explain where he got the trumpet from. Steve's Music Store is a locally owned business that has supplied musical instruments to local musicians for decades. It appears that didn't save it from being attacked and at least partially looted.
And i used to shop at Steve's. They used to have a sign in the 80s that read "If we hear the riff from Jump (VanHalen) one more time, we're gonna break your fingers".
Guess I'm dating myself with that one.
