Emrys's Handy-Dandy Guide To The Patch!

So you've spent the last several hours downloading and installing the patch, and you're ready to get back into the game.  Here's what you need to do first.

1) Open www.mmo-champion.com in your browser.  Read through the page about 4.01.  Click the link for your class, it will bring up a list of your talents and changed abilities.  Keep this page open so you can alt-tab out and refer to it. 

2) Once in the game, open your character window and look at your stats.  They may be significantly different from the last time you looked at them.  If you're way over cap on something now, note it.

3) Open your talent window and spend talent points.  The process has been dumbed down, so it's hard to really screw this part up.  Pay attention to the first screen you get, which determines your spec - it details what special abilities you get.

4) Immediately go to your class trainer and train everything you have available.

5) Check your gear.  If you had a relic, it is different now.  If you had gear with Armor Pen on it, it is different now.  If you had hit gems, they're a different color. 

6) Go to any capital city and ask a guard about reforging.  Generally speaking, you'll probably want to reforge some of whatever stat you're just dripping in over to Mastery. What does Mastery do for you?  Aha, you already know that, because you read MMO-Champion and your talent screen.

That should get you started.  Please read MMO-Champion for details about the patch, because asking about stuff in /G that you can easily find there will eventually cause one of us who reads MMO-Champion to have a psychotic break.  Thank you.  :)
