College football = good, new uni's = bad

So I'm glad the season starts this week, but lots teams are adopting these nasty looking uniforms. http://slumz.boxden.com/f16/official-2010-nike-pro-combat-jerseys-1415015/. Looks like Tals' beloved Pitt got off easy, especially compared to the crap Oregon and OSU agreed to wear. I wish schools would just stick to their regular uniforms instead of trying to sell more merchandise by introducing this heinous crap (eg Penn State, though we are guilty of selling St. Patty's green crap w/ the school logo)

Yep
This is why Michigan switched from Nike to Addidas (in addition to a ton more money). Addidas isn't screweing with the uniform. And Michigan's uniform is about as big a tradition as any in college football, right there with Penn State's plain white. If you see our helmet, you INSTANTLY know what team you are looking at. Can't say the same most other places.
except...
For Delaware fighting blues hens, who totally ripped off the michigan helmet ! http://www.wdel.com/story.php?id=S212735676582
Yeah Pitt looks to have gotten off easy
I'll see em tonight though when they play Utah. Lets Go Pitt!
Nice
After moving to Co for grad school, i jhve to somewhat support Univ. of Colorado which makes me hate any other regional teams like Utah. But... also went to the last Penn State vs Pitt game at the old 3 rivers stadium and am still alittle butt-hurt about the loss. But in the support of guild harmony, go Pitt.
Yeah Paterno is butt hurt as well :P
Sorry but the "hey we'll play Pitt, but only if we get 2 home games to your 1 home game" is kinda lame for a school to do to a traditional rival. :) Any kind of 2 for 1 offer against a BCS division team is just an insult. For a MAC or Sun Belt team etc? Sure. Otherwise you're just putting money in front of tradition, which I think is lame.
Otherwise I have tons of Penn State friends, can't help it around here. Could have been interesting these days if they were still playing...The Pitt vs Penn State game was always fun. We still have Pitt vs. WVU which is similar, but it's not the same.
Also what's up with Penn State's annual interconference big 10 game being against Nebraska? Seems random.
Guhh, nebraska
I don't know, maybe an attempt to create some sort of rivalry stemming from the 1994 Nation title fiaso.
As for the old Pitt games, i think the offer was more of a finacial question. Beaver Stadium hold a metric shit-ton of people (107,282 if officially a metric shit ton) where as the old Pitt Stadium was about half that, and if I remember parking/tailgating sucked for that place. But with Pitt playing at Heinz Field and sporting a competitive program they really should start the rivalry again. Plus then I could bust out my "Puck Fitt" shirt again !
And when it comes to WVU, I have been to Morgantown. And, no kidding, there is a trailer park across the street from Mountaineer Stadium.......
See
I can understand with the old Pitt Toilet Bowl. But at Heinz Field they can fil 65k and have tons of room for tailgating, there's enough parking there for both a Steeler and a Pirate game simultaneously. Yeah I mean it's not Beaver Stadium which is the second largest in the western world, but come on. 65k That's reasonable and it's simply unfair to give one team two home games to one road game because they have nothing else going on out there besides a monster stadium.
And yeah all us old timers have tons of old tshirts we need to bust out. Plus it's like a family rivarly. I know tons of people who one sibling went to Penn state and another went to Pitt etc. As far as Western PA goes it's a huge thing. Maybe for Centeral or Eastern it's not as much, but it's still there.
It's not an insult
it's a money grab to support all the otehr sports at the school. The gate from a Penn State game at Beaver (110,000 tickets to sell) vs. Pitt, (don't know the caoacity of the stadium, but it's a lot less than Beaver) is so much higher they lose a lot of money playing more away games. Since Pitt gets a nice cut from the huge away game gate, they agree to it. Sucks for teams with small stadiums, but thats the biz, bro.
Bleh
Hoartius beat me to it.
Also, the 1994 stuff yeah, I think Michigan has the same stoy line with 1997. Should be fun to watch...
Nah
I mean I get it. It's a money grab i agree with that, but at the same time the road team gets a cut but they still make less playing on the road, than they do with a home game, plus Heinz Field isn't exactly a backwater dump of a football stadium. Not to mention that giving one team home field advantage over another twice to once, simply because they built a bigger stadium is bullshit, imho.
For instnace Michigan's stadium seats what, like 109,000 and Michigan State's holds 75,000. About the same difference between Penn State and Pitt. Should Michigan get 2 home games to 1 home game for Michigan State? Thing Michigan State fans would feel that was bullshit?
Sorry I guess I'm more of a traditionalist. I think it's bullshit when they do crap like that purely for monetary reasons. It's bullying and total crap imho, even if the money take was the same. Treating a division 1 team like they're Kent State or something is complete crap.
I don't know what you're
I don't know what you're smokin but those uni's are badass!
Stay classy Miami
While we are here,I never pass on a chance to crap on "the U"... http://withleather.uproxx.com/2010/09/finally-some-violence-in-coral-gables#more-39395
