Class Discussion: Hunters Pre-Cata//Cata

What specs are our hunters currently using? What mechanics do you use? What works best per situation? Lets take the opportunity to discuss the merits of our different layouts, and help eachother out.
I'm currently running a marks spec, heavy focus on mastery. (currently at just over 15)
I have a pet tanking off-spec at the moment, but I don't plan to keep this. However I would like to hear from BM's what you're doing to optimize dps. Of the 3 I've managed the least out of it, but I don't feel like I have a good feel for the motions either.
I plan on switching my off-spec to SV for aoe situations. The AOE damage of SV is significantly higher than either of the other two specs, and although the damage itself isn't bad either, there seems to be a definite lack in available focus compared to the other two specs.
If I can help anyone else I'm happy to, my play time is sparatic in most cases, but I'm always happy to answer questions when I'm on.

So i was getting some of the new pets (fox/dog) and i noticed something. I know with the mage the crit cap is 33%. Is it the same with hunters? Oph's crit is 48%. if it is that high i need to trim it and add to mastery and such..
No idea on hunters, but the
No idea on hunters, but the 33% crit cap only applies to Frost Mages because they have a talent that has a 3x change to crit anything that's frozen (so any crit over 33% gets wasted about 1/2 the time.) That doesn't apply to Arcane or Fire mages though. Unless Hunters have some sort of similar talent I don't think it woule apply to them either.
ohhh ok... i thought the 33%
ohhh ok... i thought the 33% was for all mages.. i am only at 27% so i'm still not there but glad you said that cause i obviously didnt understand lol...
The hard cap is 104.8%, most
The hard cap is 104.8%, most shots soft cap around 90%.
I'm not really much of a hunter anymore, but...
I've noticed that my dps has almost doubled in SV for single target, and I can pull 8k easy for aoe... and that's with no t10. The serpent sting/multishot synergy for aoe is ridiculous to the point where it seems to be begging for a nerf. As for focus, weaving the steady shots to regen focus just means that you have 2 distinct rotations for aoe and single target, and it's pretty easy to transition from one to the other.
