I'm not sure how many of you have had to deal with this when your kids were (or are still are) little, but I seem to remember stories involving a much younger me, nightmares, and Dad getting a sudden ninja-kick to the kidney at 3am.

I'm still nightmare-prone as an adult but at least now I have someone already in my own bed to pester in the middle of the night. :)

lol

I have a friend who's boy would say a monster was in his closet. My friend would go to his room and bang around for awhile then come back and tell his boy the monster was dead. So his boy would say thanks and go back to his bed

Ah HAh!

My daughter recently started

My daughter recently started waking up in the middle of the night and crawling into bed with us she does this about 1/2 the time.  She does fine there but I'm wondering if we should put a stop to it so it doesnt become a habit or dependence thing.

it happens.

after raising 3 kids to tween and above, it could become a habit...hel i think my 30 yr old brother is still scared of the dark.

she just needs to feel comfortable in her own bed, and it could be that she's seeking that comfort with you, is there a "special" item that you could place in her room from yours to make her feel more secure?

If so try that, cause the bed ca get pretty crowded when they hit 10 or so.

I'm of the opinion that we

I'm of the opinion that we should let her come in and relax with us a bit but then go with her back to her bed shortly after.  My wife thinks it's fine and doesnt really want to push it until after her next (4th) birthday in December.  If I lose that battle I'll use your suggestion soaps and try to have something thats definately mommy and daddy's but that she can "borrow" for the night once we do decide to send her back to her room.  I think for now I'll try to keep some stuffed animal in our bed that has to stay there but she can hold if she comes in and then allow her to take back with her once we start kicking her out.

Like Tal said it can become a habit.

It became one with my son, and we regretted not breaking it earlier on.

Usually I'm the one crawling
