'ts been a while since I posted one of these. For those not familiar, from time to time Tranq finds music on the internet that he has to do a stupid amount of work to track down the name or author of. So let's take a trip back in time because this one's been an irritant longer than Tranq's been in the guild. Five years ago, Tranq found a torrent to a CD which was labelled as simply "50 Trance Tunes", broken into two MP3 files of 25 songs each, with no breaks and no information on where each song started, or what the songs actually were. At the time Tranq didn't care 'cos Tranq was 16 and stupid. Now Tranq is not.

So a while back I posted my brother's art weblog, which he's using to keep track of the things he's learning and the work he's come up with. A lot of it's mindboggling for me, and I know exactly how 3D modelling works. He's come a long way in a few months. But oddly enough it was music that got him started, not directly 3D animation, though that was important in the music.

So you get something stuck in your head. You'd heard it years before, you never knew what it was, and then all of a sudden it starts to get to you. It eats at you. You want to listen to it again - you want to hear the damned song that you only half remember. Today it was the theme song of Beyond 2000, the opening riff of which I've remembered since I was very young - at least nine, probably closer to six or seven. I needed to find and listen to it today, since any prior efforts had failed to even support that the television show existed. There're two reasons for that - one being that the show was Australian, and the second being that the show's had three titles.

Doesn't wor. Won't even open BOS. God damned US crap doesn't wor on anythng but other US crap.

Tranq sn't happy.

So me was atchng TF2 strategy vdeos last nght. Ths s useful to me because le n WoW my goal s to be competent at every avalable class and role. There was one vdeo for snpng that as mostly just a montage of death shots but had a very neat soundtrac. Too me some tme to fnd out exactly what t all wwas but turns out that t's a swedsh artst releasng songs under the band name "she" n all lowcase letters.

An nterstng bt to now s that the guy who does t ntentonally breas some of the songs and artwor; lendng t a damaged feel on purpose. Despte beng pced up by a rcordng studo too he urges people to be llegal n ther procurement methods - so a torrent somewheres s actve.

So four buttons on my laptop are dead today. They're all on a line together - buttons ,ik8. Coupled with a large number of other problems that've slowly been building, 'ts time for a new computer..

Criteria:

Must be below 500$. Don't have much money left and have to save as much as possible. Can give up WoW, but not PC access entirely..

Must have decent GFX. Wanna be able to actually play games instead of seeing blocky shapes and particle effects.

Cannot be HP. Never again.

Must have integrated wireless. Only have an N-router. Compatible with A/B/G, but prefer N.

So amidst all the crap that's going on with the other 50% of my family, my brother is in college in Halifax. He's been there for about six months out of a two year course, and he's put up a bloggy-wordy-thingy regarding his progress. He's studying 3D modelling and art, and doing a pretty damn good job at it for just a few months. One of the highlights of my week is talking with him and learning about all the nifty stuff he's doing. He's better at art and such than I've ever been, but I tend to have a more practical mindset about things. Figured I'd show all of you some of the stuff, one of the bits they're working on is getting their artwork out so companies and such know about them.
